about

As part of Artetetra’s commitment in expanding the boundaries and discourse about digital folklore, your favourite Mondo Bizzarro manufacturers celebrate the gates of Christmas with a new gloomy sound adventure dimming mythological worlds and virtual planes.

Conceived by artist Mondoriviera as an OST to an interactive and fragmented bedtime story, the album merges and experiments different techniques of computer music conjuring the past and future of digital composition for video games in the fashion of artists like Takafumi Fujisawa, Akira Yamaoka and Andrew Barnabas.

Nott Longa (originally Nòtt Lönga) is a short nighttime adventure to explore the hidden areas of nostalgia and forgotten futures in a timeless night. Recover lost objects, converse with strange entities and solve puzzles to find your way out of a ruined reality inhabited by glitches and arcane creatures.

As part of a somewhat new renaissance of the Italian folk-horror tradition by digital means - a movement made famous in the peninsula by directors such as Pupi Avati, Aldo Lado and Massimo Bonetti and writers like Danilo Arona and Morgan Perdinka - the sombre world of the game is loosely set in some areas of Ravenna, a city in Emilia Romagna, generally known for its mosaics and early Christian artworks scattered across the territory. The Darsena, the Monumental Cemetery and the Old Slaughterhouse are real locations reimagined as symbolic spaces ready for exploration. Likewise, historical themes and elements are inspired by the ancient and uncanny regional folklore, made up of monsters such as Borda, Bessabova and Piligrena, with their arcane riddles and semi-forgotten objects.

Nott Longa, then, feels like an old abandoned retrogame, transformed into an alienating limbo by glitchy ghosts and defective creatures of forsaken superstitions, always halfway between an 8-bit version of Silent Hill and The Last Door. Find yourself lost and stuck in a liminal dimension. Discover that time no longer has any meaning and the sun has stopped rising.

Be careful: your actions will affect the fate of Nott Longa's entities. You may also return to your reality, but what will you leave behind?
